Tutu School

Ballet classes for toddlers and kids

By Debbie Calabro September 8, 2024

At the heart of our vibrant community lies a boutique ballet school dedicated to nurturing the next generation of dancers.

Meet Ashley Vetek, an Atlanta mom of two, Air Force veteran, and the owner/operator of Tutu School Brookhaven and Tutu School Halcyon (Alpharetta). Tutu School is a whimsical ballet school that emphasizes individualized instruction and a deep love for the art of ballet. It offers a unique and enriching experience for children aged 6 months to 8 years. In addition to year-round classes, Tutu School provides enchanting, turn-key Ballet Birthday parties, camps, and a specialty boutique. The school is a charming space adorned with crystal chandeliers and tutus lining the walls, each representing a famous ballet story. It is a place where students are encouraged to fully exercise both their imaginations and their bodies. Every Tutu Teacher is hand-selected and brings an extensive background in dance and a passion for teaching. Teachers are trained in Tutu School’s ballet storybook curriculum, carefully crafted by professional dancers and child development experts.

The founding principle of Tutu School is that motor skill development is infinitely enhanced by Tchaikovsky and Bach, that young imaginations benefit immensely from exploring the enchanted worlds of swans and sugar plums, and that twirling should be a fundamental part of any childhood. Tutu School truly believes that every child should know what it feels like to dance. With this in mind, Tutu School proudly offers programming for dancers of all backgrounds, including students with learning differences who may need special accommodations, as well as Spanish/bilingual class options at the Brookhaven location.

Ashley began dancing at the age of 3 and quickly discovered her love for it. As a military child, moving was a constant part of life. With every relocation, Ashley made it a priority to find a dance studio where she could continue pursuing her passion. Dance provided comfort and a sense of familiarity during times of change. Ashley danced through high school and college, teaching preschool ballet, and always dreamed of becoming a professional dancer. The challenges of pursuing a professional dance career led her down a different path. Ashley decided that if she couldn’t dance professionally, she would serve her community in another way and joined the Air Force.

Ashley served as a pilot in the Air Force for eleven years. Throughout her military service, she dreamed of opening her own ballet school. She was inspired by the idea of creating a special place for children to develop their own love of dance, as she had. This passion led her to open Tutu School Halcyon in 2022 and Tutu School Brookhaven this year!

Ashley has cherished bringing the joy of dance to so many students in the Alpharetta community over the past two years and is thrilled to continue serving the Atlanta community with Tutu School Brookhaven.
