Phase Learning Center Alpahretta

By Debbie Calabro August 7, 2024

Tickets are on sale now for a cinematic experience you won’t want to miss! The exclusive one-night-only premiere of Five Date Rule will come to the big screen on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at Legacy Theater, inside Phase Events. Doors open at 6 pm, and the event begins at 7:00 pm.

Guests can attend live or virtually to view this romantic comedy feature film shot in Alpharetta, Georgia and neighboring cities. "We're hoping to set two new Guinness Book of World Records, one for the most money raised for nonprofit organizations through movie ticket sales and the other for the largest movie premiere attendance, live and virtual combined," says Executive Producer, James Walchle. Inspired by the true story of James and Donna Douglas Walchle’s hilarious path to love, Five Date Rule will make you laugh a little, cry a little and leave feeling better than when you came in.

Hattie, played by Janelle Arthur (formerly of American Idol), is a happily single children’s author who’s given a three-month subscription to a dating app by her best friends for her birthday.  Reluctantly, she ventures out on a series of laughably mismatched dates, becoming convinced that she’s meant to be single, living alone with her goldfish, Fred and her beloved scooter-riding Collie, Utah. However, her armor-guarded heart opens slightly when she meets a widower named Henry, played by Jason Burkey (previously seen in I Can Only Imagine), who insists it’s impossible to really get to know someone until you’ve had at least five dates.

Guests at the premiere will undoubtedly recognize many Alpharetta locales and see a few familiar faces, including All Fired Up, Never Enough Thyme, and Northpoint Community Church. Pastor Andy Stanley is present in three scenes teaching from his popular series, The New Rules of Love, Sex and Dating.  Popular Alpharetta Music City staples can also be found in the movie, including music performances by James Casto and Carole Ford of Home by Dark, who regularly performs at Alpharetta’s Brooke Street Park and Union Hill Park.

Writer and producer Donna Douglas Walchle enjoyed filming in Alpharetta immensely, saying, “Whether it's enjoying the perfect meal, attending a concert, painting pottery, experiencing scenic parks, searching for a new outfit, perusing paintings and sculptures, having coffee with a friend, needing a place to call home or shooting a movie... Awesome Alpharetta is the place to be!”

Alpharetta is indeed the perfect backdrop for movie-like romance. With over 200 eateries and over 300 things to do, there are endless date possibilities for locals and visitors! Whether enjoying a budding romance or celebrating years of marriage, there is something for anyone at any stage to love.
