Spend a Local Beach Day at Lake Lanier

Mary Alice Park offers sand, water and outdoor fun

By Karen Cohen, publisher of Macaroni Kid Alpharetta-Roswell-Milton July 25, 2020

This summer has been unique. If you are looking for a change from your usual pool routine, pack up the car and head to the beach! Lake Lanier beach that is.

Every summer going to Mary Alice Park is on our bucket list. This is a public access beach on Lake Lanier. Pack beach chairs, sand toys, floats, sunscreen, and a picnic and enjoy a local lake beach day.

There is a large lake area for swimming (no lifeguard). Kids can swim, play in the sand, and float in the water. You can also enjoy watching boats and jet skis in the distance. There are geese wandering the beach area.

We have been twice this summer and it has not been overcrowded. I have heard it gets more crowded on the weekends.

Parking is $5. Go to the second parking lot on the right. The first parking lot is for boats and the boat ramp. No other cost for beach access.
