Now that all the Halloween candy is eaten, it is time to think about your next big meal – Thanksgiving! What kind of Thanksgiving traditions does your family have around this holiday?
I know a lot of families travel on Thanksgiving. Our entire family lives close by – so our Thanksgiving tradition starts off with sleeping late and picking a movie to go see together. We then meet up with extended family for a late afternoon meal. And, I admit, I am one that starts looking at the holiday sales and is ready to get started.
Traditions around the holidays such as Thanksgiving, helps enhance family bonding and creates life-long memories. Below are some easy ideas you could use this Thanksgiving. Let’s get ready to Gobble, Gobble!
- Make a special family recipe together.
- Create a grateful jar! Have everyone write what they are grateful for, and then read from it at the dinner table.
- Watch a family movie together.
- Find a service project to do together as a family.
- Attend or watch a Thanksgiving Day parade!
- Go outside and take a hike.
- Participate in a local turkey trot.
- Play a family football game (or other sport).
- Create a special table center piece together.
- Serve a meal at a local shelter.
- Do a puzzle.
- Look at old family photos.
- Family board game night.
- Watch football.
