The Roswell Cultural Arts Center has announced the new family concert series Summer Sounds which will take place in August 2019. The inaugural Summer Sounds series will include two concerts, with plans to expand the program in future years. The pilot project is intended to expand the Cultural Arts Center’s high quality offerings for children and families during the summer.
On Saturday, August 10, GRAMMY-winner Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will take the stage with a family hip-hop show at 11 a.m. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo combines the excitement of hip hop with the magical world of childhood. With sophisticated instrumental funk and positive, witty wordplay, Skidoo’s unique and heartwarming music has garnered national awards, 10 #1 hits on SiriusXM Global Radio, and praise from TIME, NPR, USA Today, and many others. Skidoo’s 2016’s space-themed Infinity Plus One album took home music’s biggest prize at the 59th GRAMMY Awards for Best Children’s Album. Positive themes of empowerment, love, imaginations set loose, hope, ambitions, and dreams infuse his fun-filled performances.
“The Roswell Summer Puppet Series has been a consistently successful program year after year, and our patrons are always disappointed that it only lasts seven weeks,” said Center Coordinator Donna Clayton. “This grant gives us an opportunity to extend our children’s programs into the month of August and to diversify the art forms that we offer to the community.”
