On New Year's Day, I went for a walk (check out my 99 Walks article!) and listened to a podcast hosted by Rachel Hollis on her RISE podcast. She was interviewing Brendon Burchard, the author of High Performance Habits - How Extraordinary People Become That Way and I literally stopped in my tracks. I found myself scribbling down notes on my iPhone that I wanted to retain. Notes about how to really change a habit. Notes about how just doing something every day for 21 days does not institute change, and how to develop deliberate habits. Notes about how to be more intentional and have more clarity in life.
I immediately went home, ordered his book, and started soaking up all his researched information. I took his High Performance Indicator assessment. And I started applying his practices. I subscribed to his podcasts (The Brendon Show and HPX). And, wow. The skills that I have developed, the things I've been able to achieve, both personally and in my business, have been eye-opening. I have so, so much to still learn, but I'm so glad to have come across this book to get me started.
As I mentioned in my article about my top 4 podcasts, this book and his podcast is not just for those in the workforce. Stay-at-home and work-from-home moms and dads can learn from this. Entrepreneurs, or those with a dream to start their own business can find success. Honestly, anyone with a dream and a goal to improve will learn and grow from his research and wisdom.
