I had the opportunity to attend a preview and ribbon-cutting of Dinosaur Explore, a new exhibit that will take you back to prehistoric times in a most realistic fashion. Be ready to be whisked back to your childhood when you first saw these larger-than-life creatures and re-discover the enormity of their wonder.
Weaving your way through a rustic setting of tall trees and thick foliage, follow a path that brings you up-close-and-personal to 14 species and more than 20 life-size dinosaurs, complete with realistic movement and sound effects. And, perfect for our little sponges (ahem...our kids), there are fact-filled plaques full of information providing a teaching moment for us all.
Included in the exhibit are the well-known T-Rex, triceratops, pteranodon, and the awesomely tall brachiosaurus which reaches over 20 feet tall and 33 feet long! You'll find plenty more species, and even some cute little babies popping out of dinosaur eggs, too.
After walking through the cool canopy of trees taking in the sights and sounds of our past, find your way into the Dinotorium where kids and adults alike will have a blast taking on ranger training and mastering your mind and body on the ranger boot camp course! Use the ball blaster to shoot into The Dino Generator, and once you reach the fourth level and achieve ranger status, pick a tunnel slide to race back down to the bottom level. And, yes, I went down the slide and it was a so much fun! I highly recommend taking the challenges on yourself!
For those with a handicap, the Dinotorium offers an elevator to the second floor and a platform which make getting into a slide specifically created for these guests to take a shorter trip back down to the bottom level.
The temporary Dinosaur Explore exhibit opened on March 30th and will run through the 2017 season, so you'll want to make plans to stop by with your family before the exhibit becomes extinct. Dinosaur Explore is only available on "Attractions Open" days, and is included in a daily Adventure Pass and an annual Mountain Membership. Please check the Stone Mountain calendar for dates and hours of operation prior to your visit. There is a $15 parking permit or $40 annual parking permit required for Park entry.
Make your way to Stone Mountain Park and experience all that the park has to offer, especially their new Dinosaur Explore exhibit. Learn more about Stone Mountain Park HERE and the exhibit HERE.
Note: I received free entry to the Dinosaur Explore exhibit media preview, however the thoughts and opinions above are my own.
