It's hard to find a game that works double-duty....you know, can be fun and educational. And as a bonus, a game that can be used across all different age ranges. I found all these to be true with the game Letter Slide by Simply Fun!
Letter Slide is a race to spell as many four letter words as you can with the provided tiles and be the first to cover all of the letter spaces on the board! It's a lesson in spelling and vocabulary all while throwing a bit of competition into the mix!
This is perfect for my 2nd grader and me to play, but what about my 3-year-old? Well, as he is working on his letter recognition, we're able to grab the letter tiles and talk about the letters, even spelling out basic words. It's a great way for him to work on his skills in a different way other than a letter puzzle or me pointing to letters in a book.
SimplyFun also takes into consideration children with special needs. For each game, they evaluate if the game is appropriate for many different special needs including autism, and if so, how it can be modified to make it more accessible to the participants.
