REVIEW: The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical Now Playing

By Erin Stolle, Publisher/Editor - Macaroni Kid Alpharetta-Roswell-Milton June 8, 2019

To be honest, I went to this show not knowing much. What I knew was that my boys love The Lightning Thief series, and both gobbled up the books and enjoyed the movie. What I didn't expect was just how much we would ALL enjoy the stage performance!

Performed with a small cast on a simple stage, I was quite impressed with the sheer energy the actors possessed. Their ability to tell this complicated story through song and dialogue was outstanding, the music impactful. Each character portrayed their role beautifully, some actors filling multiple characters flawlessly.

We all laughed quite a bit. There were moments where we could feel the emotional strain of being a teenager. On occasion we found ourselves at the edge of our seat in anticipation of how the scene would play out. The movements were all choreographed to perfection, and honestly, the actors had us wrapped around their fingers from the moment they stepped onto the stage.

Perfect rainy weather entertainment, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is so much fun for the whole family. Due to the content and intricate story line, I'd recommend leaving the littles at home for this one, but it's perfect for the tweens and teens in your lives!
