Put a New Spin on Birthdays and More with YTLC!

Youth Technology Learning Center: Creative education centered around technological learning

July 16, 2012

It seems like my son and all of his friends have summer birthdays, so we tend to have a party about once a week June through August.  We've gone to our share of swim and backyard water slide parties, bounce houses and sports-themed parties...all of which are great options for the hot summer months.  But this past Saturday, we got to experience something new...a Lego Robotics party.

Led by the Lego Queens of the Youth Technology Learning Center, the kids started out with a fun game of "Put the Shark in the Water," a different take on the old favorite "Pin the Tail on the Donkey."  The kids of course all loved it and it was a great ice breaker to get the party started.

They then moved to the main attraction, a Robotics Class where they got to build and play with Legos that came to life with the help of a simple computer programming interface.  This was such a hit with all of the kids, boys and girls alike, and they all rushed back to play after a quick bite of pizza and cake.

Everyone had a great time, and my son couldn't wait to tell his dad all about the fun he had.

I was able to speak to Jewel, one of the Lego Queens, and learned YTLC is more than birthday parties.  They also offer Robotics Classes, Art Classes, Summer and Holiday Camps, and Clubs such as a Drama Club and Girls Comic Society.  Classes are perfect for kids ages 6 and up.
