About TopGolf
TopGolf is located in Alpharetta off of Westside Parkway (in between Mansell and Haynes Bridge). You've seen the net as you cruise up and down 400 and may have wondered, like I did, what in the world is that? On the other side of that net is an establishment that holds fun and excitement for all ages. It's the perfect place for the golf pros to prove their skill as well as for the 7-year-old just wanting to see if they can hit a target. It's the new go-to for date night where couples can challenge each other to games all while enjoying upscale food and drinks. It's the perfect girl's night out and guy's hangout. It's the perfect place to just relax, have some fun, and enjoy each other's company.
TopGolf features 102 bays over three floors all overlooking a a 215-yard outfield with dartboard-like targets in the ground. The closer to the center or “bull’s-eye” you get and the farther out you hit your microchipped balls, the more points you receive. The system is super-easy to operate as proven by the fact that my 3-year-old mastered it within a matter of minutes. Just wave your golf club (all equipment is provided by the facility and they even have kid-sized clubs!) over the sensor and out comes a ball. Place it on the tee and fire away!
The Food
While there, I was able to sample several items on the menu including the Mushi, Shrimp and Grits, Smoked Brisket Street Tacos, Mushroom Risotto, MacDaddy Burger, and Salmon. For dessert, we were tempted with Injectable Donuts (these were a huge hit with kids and adults!), Strawberry Shortcake and Caramel Sea Salt Blonde Brownie Bites. EVERYTHING was fabulous! They do have a kid's menu as well for only $5 a meal which includes a drink. Very affordable and very tasty.
The Service
I also have to give a shout-out to the amazing wait staff at TopGolf. To say they were attentive is an understatement. They ensured we had everything we needed for playing the game, as well as being taken care of with food and drink. I was so impressed when they even came over to the boys and gave them some very helpful pointers. Their mission is to make sure you're having a great time, and they take that mission seriously.
It's a Party!
A favorite part of the evening was when the staff came around to all of the bays urging us to join in on the dancing. Kids and adults alike lined up with all of the TopGolf team as they led us in the "Wobble." It was so much fun to put down the clubs and just let loose and dance!
What's In It For the Kids
I do believe TopGolf is a great place for kids, though I will give you a warning that the little ones keep you on your toes as each bay opens up to the outfield which means there is a drop-off just beyong the green where you're doing your driving. My 3-year-old put his whole body into it, so I was always a bit on edge when his turn was up, especially since he didn't want any help. There is a net just beyond the green, but it's not very wide. I'm not sure I'll be bringing him back anytime soon. But for those kids about 5 and up, it's really a fun time!
Sign your kids up for KidZone. This exclusive club is just for kids, allowing them to get the inside scoop on fun contests, freebies, specials and discounts. By signing up for this free program, your little ones will be the first to hear about cool events at Topgolf held just for kids and families. KidZone is available to all children 12 and younger. Permission from a parent or guardian is required to enroll. There is no cost to participate.
TopGolf also offers a Summer Academy for kids 6-12 which will teach kids all of the components that make up the great game of golf. From chipping and full swing to the rules and etiquette, your kids will learn everything they need to know about the game of golf. Each Academy is designed and taught by our Golf Teaching Professionals in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Summer Academy is staffed with a low student-to-instructor ratio to ensure each junior golfer receives in-depth, hands-on attention while he or she develops a winning golf swing.
